"The Lion and the Unicorn were fighting for the Crown" ...

Now, admittedly this story is suspect considering the source,
but what I found interesting was the part about the Queen's
supposed opinion of Charles, which incidentally is shared by me
(i.e. he's an idiot and a stupid one at that) therefore not worthy
of inheriting the Crown. So maybe the rime is prophetic and he'll
    "be kicked out of town".

You need to view the gallery for the story.

Thirty years ago, in an insider interview said the Queen would never allow Charles to be her successor.

I have heard it speculated that Charles will take the crown when the time comes, and almost immediately turn it over to William,

      time will tell,

Question please; is the queen the titular head of the Anglican Church? Henry broke with the Catholic Church, but what is the official national church?

Henry VIII declared himself to be "The Supreme head of the Church in England." Official name-"Church of England".

Has anything been done to change the monarchy from the head of the state religion? Is the queen STILL the head?

It's complicated. There are 30+ Anglican churches -- the Queen is the "Supreme Governor" of the Anglican Church of England, and appoints bishops, etc..
