May not be a word he has learned yet in his "new" country.

You lose credibility when you make statements of fact that cannot be sustained.
You got a better reason? Anybody got a better reason for why this particular mass shooting gets the government moving, when others don't? Let the crickets start chirping.

So, by your reasoning, it is acceptable to state as proven fact an opinion that is unsubstantiated, and for which you cannot provide evidence. When I was younger they called that "lying". Now they call it the "Democrat Party Platform".

You sound exactly like a anti-Obama Birther - "He can't be a legal President because he wan't born in the US.", or a Democrat Congressman saying "Trump must have colluded with the Russians, there's no "better reason" why Hillary didn't win the election!"

One possible reason for the government to take action in this case is that the bump stock ban is low-hanging fruit. It can be put in place by regulators without a law having to be passed - unlike most issues involving actual firearms. But I guess that's not a "better reason". And I will not state that as fact, but as opinion.

What - you haven't responded before I even finished typing? "Let the crickets start chirping."

BB, do I know if Sheldon specifically made a call to Trump? No I don't. And that is the way Trump likes it. Anyways, it's entirely reasonable to assume that the needs of casino owners are known to Trump, in some way or another. And again, why does the government change the rules after this shooting in particular, and not ones before or since? Whether it was Sheldon Adelson or Jim Smith, the point is that the ban got done. Yeah, those crickets.

Now, stated as an assumption (based on your beliefs and proven past actions of the individual), it is more argumentative (nothing wrong with a good civil argument) and less unreasonably antagonistic. I still like the low-hanging fruit guess, but it is likely some combination of many reasons - some of which would not make sense to people outside the Beltway.

I do not like Trump, and think that they should take away his Twitter account. Having said that, I can live with him for at least two more years, or six depending on which nutcase the Dems put up. I would have preferred any of several Americans (you would say Republicans) to Trump as the candidate, but almost anyone (and maybe strike the almost) was better than Hillary. She is truly evil.

The old joke about Hillary's deal with the devil. Hillary: "You lied to me. You said I would win the election!" The Devil: "You lied to me. You said you had a soul!"

Bump stocks as low hanging fruit? I don't know. Maybe. That's still a lot of private property that has to be outright destroyed, with the NRA not saying anything. It has the feel of an inside connection to the hotel/venue industry in my opinion. Something was different about this one to make the NRA stand down to a confiscation of gun parts.
