All charges against Jussie Smollett dropped

Possible reasons why:

The principle witnesses developed amnesia - Smollett's lawyer said in a presser today that the Nigerian brothers who were the principle witnesses had stated (recently?) that the money paid them by Smollett was for personal training and nothing else.

Overzealous prosecution - 16 counts is a lot, and the Police Chief at the presser when he announced the indictment made it sound a lot like he was "out to get" Smollett.

Political pressure - Smollett belongs to two "protected" classes. He's black and he's homosexual.

I suspect its varying degrees of all of the above.

He did have to forfeit his bond which amounts to a $10,000.00 fine.

All in all he may not have come out of this exactly smelling like a rose but he doesn't have a criminal record and the "fine" is bearable.

Hmmmm ......It appears that the prosecutors office dismissed this case without telling either the Chief of Police or the Mayor of Chicago both of whom it seems are extremely upset. Forget my first two possibilities above and put everything on political dirty dealing.

It is a surprising thing and my WAG on this is pretty crazy sounding but it could just be a tit for tat. The Democraps are 100% sure Mueller was always a Republican mole and his report is just rubbish. How do you illustrate absurdity? By being absurd, so if Trump is innocent, by golly so is Smollett.

The judge also granted a motion to seal the record in the case. I think somebody had dirt on the judge.

The fix was in! Hate to see this as it reminds me of the old days in Chicago when I grew up. When money under the table or a call got you off of charges. Chicago had cleaned up pretty much since then.
Sorry to say but, when I was young and just married, I was stopped for going through a red light. It was yellow, but didn't make a difference. Officers word against mine. $20 from my wallet got me no ticket.
Hate to see it go back to that.
