I agree with you DT. Some may argue that the gun didn't do the killing, but it's hard to see this go down with knives or a crossbow. And it's always wicked hard to get felony convictions on these people, so they keep their guns. And for every one that gets caught, how many get away? Wildlife crimes should be put in the same category as drunk driving. Ratchet up the penalties to the point that even the thickest skulls start to get a clue.

Okay, fair enough. All the more disingenuous for Vernon to argue that firepower doesn't matter. People go to great lengths to optimize the lethality of their hunting, tactical or PDW rig. But when anti-social types like this father/son combo use firearms lethality illegally, then suddenly the argument is that the gun doesn't matter, that they could have done the same with a rusty coffee can lid.
