Their gripes are self-generated, by living irresponsibly (not all, of course, but a majority), which isn't the best way to earn respect. Not that that justifies trigger-happy cops, who also kill plenty of whites, which, because such killings don't bring out mobs in the street, usually attract little attention.

Look poverty is messy and you won't see me making excuses or bleating sympathies for the punks caught on camera outside that McD's in Chicago. But....you have a huge blind spot, willfully so, about the way whitey sets them back. Sometimes it's subtle, and sometimes it's not.

The real victims here are honest blacks who take no truck in this. I am more akin to several of my black friends then to any white inner city people. As one said many years ago, "I doubt that any place in Africa would want them!" When I was in college I made friends with a Doctorial candidate from Kenya and he gave me an interesting observation. He couldn't understand why black Americans referred to themselves as Africa when they weren't. He said in his country these Americans would be considered Americans and nothing more. My ancestors came to America during the Great Potato Famine to live a better life in America. I feel more to Appalachia then to Ireland and celebrate my subculture of my hills, the only Irish is the butter I eat.
