And if one moves OFF of those two factoids, taken from over 2 decades of German Nazi existence, you see that dryheat is right on the money, that it was a German Nationalist movement, first and foremost, and that the socialist pamphleteering came to nothing in terms of real policy. As it happens, the US economy was more heavily socialized than the German economy during the war. Germans continued a guns & butter economic policy at a time when we had switched over to a planned war economy in nearly every facet. As the war progressed the krauts continued to shift to war production, but for the longest time the propaganda was that the war was as good as won.The Nazi Party was originally called "the German Worker's Party" and later became the "National Socialist Party" ("Nazi" is an acronym for "National Zocialism.")
If you read "The 25 Points of the Nazi Party" you will see that 14 of them are socialist, wholly or in part. They were both socialists and ultra nationalists.Last edited by togor; 04-26-2019, 07:11.Comment
