    Medicinal/recreational cannbis.

Will be an eye opener for some folks who buy a firearm and fill out form 4473. Wonder how the BATF[E] will charge those who are on a list of approved users and firearms purchases. I can see two potential federal felonies in the completion of the form.

The medical registry has been used consistently here to deny purchases. And once on it is very tough to get a waiver. One of my mother's bridge partners was told by her doctor to get a MM card, so some people with the card have a legitimate excuse for having one. She just passed away in her '80s, was from around Brownsville and if she had a pistol in her hand it was probably about to go bang intentionally.
The DEA has made it extremely difficult to do real medical research on how marijuana affects brain development (my neighbor's kid should be one of their lab rats) let alone what are the pharmaceutical properties of the weed.
The political side effect is it was intended to and succeeded in turning Colorado blue.

Wondered about that myself. It will give the feds just one more reason (in their opinion) to ban guns but of course not the pot.

Actually, pot IS banned -- but they won't enforce it in states with legalized marijuana.

            this,

lots of folks don't realize that 'legality' is state level, not Fed level,

and yep, and answer yes to that question and you just denied yourself

Maryjane is not legal here in VA yet, so I have not had any locals denied for use, yet

And answer "no" to that question and you just falsified a 4473. Maybe they'll start making gun buyers pee in a cup first.

Here in AZ the laws are confusing and contradictory . My brother had to essentially forfeit his 2A rights to buy pot from the state Not a "habitual" user, just has the card

                    pretty simple really,

Feds say pot is illegal, States (some) say it is legal,
so getting a card, he may not be habitual, but he can buy whenever he wants, and is essentially licensed to do so,, therefore not eligible on the 4473

having the card may not make you a habitual user, but says you can basically use it whenever you want , and we the .gov know about it,, and in the Fed's eyes you are an unlawful user (11.e)

vs the stoner w\o a card that can just check no, or the occasional user who would do the same

honestly, it is not much if any different than the Vets that refuse any Mental health type classes or notes on their records, they don't want to be denied their 2A rights by a record search (11.f)

If Joseph Heller was alive he could write another book.

What would people change? Give the weed users a pass on the 4473?

Now that Canada has legalized pot for recreational purposes, researchers can do all the testing they want on the effect of pot on the brain. They might want to start by researching its effect on the brain of our Prime Minister (assuming that they can find it). His latest gaff was to meet with Prime Minister Abe of Japan the other day and twice mix up Japan and China.
