Zulu shield from Rorke's Drift for sale ...

Well, maybe. I'm pretty sure no 'ranker' was able to stuff
a 4 foot shield into his kit bag without some eagle-eyed
Sergeant-Major spotting it. If this was indeed a bring back
it was an Officer's bring back. And not necessarily from
Rorke's Drift - there were quite a few such battles including
    those with the Boers.
In fact it could be just a Zulu shield with no provenance at all.

That Zulu commander never read Sun Tzu. If he had he
would sent the whole 3,000 into the battle at one go.
I would have been over within minutes.

As the Russian General said "Quantity has a quality all it's own".

My wife and I were driving through Wales years ago and stopped at a small house sized museum near Brecon. It was the New South Wales Borderers Regimental museum, formally called the 24th Foot. The members were all locally recruited and the museum was full of shields, spears, etc. from the fight at Rorkes Drift. It had a couple of the original VC's that families had donated and a chair or pew from the chapel that had a Zulu spear sticking through it.
