Soy somewhere else? Didn't happen as the Chinese caved in and bought huge amounts of Soy from the US even with the tariff's on it and still are buying it from the US.

My main point was perhaps a bit too subtle, that driving hard trade bargains in the short run will lead to long term trade challenges in the long run, if partners conclude they have a strategic incentive to reduce ties and thereby your leverage over them.

As for soybeans, this web doodad gives the price. It's still way down. If Chinese are buying in a down market, they're being smart.
