But bend over, here it comes again. Someone could substantiate this, but I heard gas was $5 in CA. It's hovering between 3.15 and 3.19 locally. That's miniscule. The Smart Shopper part of the news is advising buy now. We are going to punish China buy beating up the lower class in the U.S. okkkk.... whatever it takes. We're tough. Trade is the new Industial Revolution. You can bet it will become a point of pride and a lot of ants will get trampled. I could be completely wrong here. I usually am. Could be we're headed for the next recession. Or maybe not. Maybe everyone will Come b ya and it will be hearts and flowers from here on out. I doubt it.
God I hate inflation

Gas $2.61 here, Milk $1.18, eggs $1.00-1.50 dozen, make my own bread. Don't see a recession, just opportunities for the stuff to be made here again.

Hey Vern- What you call inflation is only a symptom of inflation. Higher prices are the result of many factors, but inflation is only caused by governments printing money to pay for non-productive activities. Government over-spending can be overshadowed by increased productivity in the economy. The U.S. Congress has been picking our pockets with inflation since the early fifties. People see increases in their income as a good thing, but price increases as bad. Inflation can be masked by increased consumer borrowing, since the dollar you repay a debt with is slightly less valuable than the dollar you borrowed. When the government gives cash to a company, organization, or individual who produces no marketable good or service, the cash enters the market to purchase those goods or services. Since there is no productivity to back that cash influx, prices for goods and services rise. Dems have always used inflation to pay off their pets, counting on the productive citizen to hid their excesses, and counting on the average consumer to be thrilled with a small wage increase. Historically, only a very few economies/governments have stopped inflation before it destroyed that countries market economy. It takes hard work and fiscal discipline to stop inflation. Half of our country and dearly all of our politicians are not interested in either idea. Just what I see. Regards, ClarkComment

You are absolutely right. Money has value only when it is earned. Money that is created without being earned has no value, and dilutes the rest, causing inflation.Comment

is that a 1/2 gal price on milk?
2.68 gas, 2.78 Diesel a few days ago,
milk at Aldi's, 1/2 ga was $1.04 yesterday
we prefer farm eggs, vs farmed eggs, so end up paying $3 a doze at a farmers market, and they taste much much betterComment

The California people voted money to fix the roads, but the
government gave it to illegals via benefits. Gas tax was
imposed to fix the roads. Guess where that money will go.
The roads here are appalling. I must sometimes look like I'm
drunk, swerving here and there trying to avoid potholes.
I lost a tire due to a giant pothole. Tire and alignment shops
must be enjoying a business bonanza.Comment

CA hiways are in a shocking state of disrepair. The potholes are actually dangerous. I haven't been to the state in ten years but don't imagine the roads are better. Last time I drove there(a rental) I told myself I would never drive my own car there. CA is different kind of place. If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.Comment

I figure that it is a loss leader, same as eggs. @ the Farmers Market brown eggs go for between $4-6.00 per dozen.
