I attended a lecture the other day on Sir Barnes Wallis. He was the fellow who not only developed the skipping bomb that the RAF used in the famous Dam Busters raid, he also invented the first bunker bombs; the tall boy and the grand slam. As I recall from the lecture, the first one was about 6,000 pounds and the second one was about 22,000 pounds. They were limited in size by the capacity of the Lancaster bomber. The ones in the video are over 30,000 pounds and are most impressive indeed.

The Lancaster had the biggest bomb loading capacity.
The Grand Slams were used on the German submarine pens
      with varying results.

with... bomb attacks on four oil shipping vessels and attacks on two oil pumping stations earlier in the week
Hello! Why should the U.S. gave a damn? Our stooges and others here think we should be encouraging more such attacks on oil shipments, after all it is not important to us any more. "We don't need no stinking Middle East oil..."

Run away and hide in a safe room, that's the answer.

Also, the "TALLBOYS" were dropped on the TIRPIZ battleship. One penetrated through the main forward turret and out the bottom before exploding.
Other fell just off-board and blew any any and all hull-penetrating piping contributing to the flooding and capsizing of the ship.

The USN captain assigned to MANHATTAN PROJECT, traveled to England, to secure the bomb bay release to use for the Fat Man and Little boy deliveries.

I don't think the Tirpitz ever fired a shot in anger at an Allied ship
