Venezuela is a poster child of gun control gone wrong

Their words, not mine but the shoe sure does fit. With hillary or any other democrat we would already be here.

Venezuela's disarmament reminds us of a key American principle: An armed citizenry is the greatest defense against a tyrannical government.

The RKBA is the difference between April 19, 1775-Lexington and Concord-and April 19, 1943-the Warsaw Ghetto.

No; that's Gun Control gone Right.
Gun control done efficiently invariably ends in a total or near dictatorship.

Arming a bunch of civilian Venuesualans would be a bad idea. They evidently aren't a smart people.

And are the dictators who are starving and oppressing them geniuses?

Of course not. They managed to take an oil producing country down. But all out civil war, well, now wait let me think about this...No. That might not be the way they feel about it. But no. Our days of arming indigent(indigenous) people with dangerous toys should be over. Except for the fact that, well....

I suspect that if the average Venuesalan was asked what went wrong, they would tell you that the government wasn't socialist enough. My perception is that, like the socialist in this country, they fully believe that there is nothing wrong with socialism, you just need the "right people" to implement it.

It doesn't matter what form of economic system you have, if the people in power are determined to loot the country for the advantage of their cronies.

On a completely unrelated topic (not really), Trump is trying to push the Army to hire Fisher Industries, a ND construction company, to built wall stuff along the southern border. Tommy Fisher, the owner, is a big Trump booster, whom many here have no doubt seen on right wing media. When it comes to cultivating a network of grifters who are trying to make a fast buck off of the current administration, Trump goes where no other POTUS has gone before. It isn't even close.
