    I'm not sure when the polarization started, or rather, got this bad,

    maybe when Gore lost?

          I graduated high school in 1981,

          our Gov't teacher in Senior year spend the first part of the school year telling us every day that Reagan was never going to be elected,
          Carter was going to win hands down, no worries,

          50 minute class, most of that time talk about the election, ,

          day after, Carter and elections were not mentioned, back to the Gov't studies for the rest of the year,

          so maybe, before then,,,
