No third barstool down on this!

    I am curious on something.
First off the parameters of this discussion is basically NO OPINON, no experts say, not Google explanation. I am wanting HARD, EMPERICAL EVIDENCE to answer the question that I am posing. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO BACK UP YOUR STAEMENT WITH CHECKABLE EVIDENCE. Fact checker is out, I want to know the actual source.
The question is: WHAT FINANCIAL EVIDENCE IS THERE THAT THE FORMER PRESIDENT BENEFITTED THE ECONOMY DURING HIS TERM IN OFFICE?

No based on what was carry over, what other's did/didn't. What was President Obamas ACTUAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

General Motors and Chrysler. I suppose it is a matter of opinion whether their continuation was good for the economy or not. But it is a fact that they did survive.

With respect, not so very impressed with General Motors. Even less with Chrysler. No different with bailout of the Wall Street banks.
Do consider the S&P 500 a good gauge for long term comparisons.
With that in mind, below are the S&P 500 increases since Ronald Reagan. Sincerely. bruce.

Reagan Up 118% over 8 years
Bush Up 51% over 4 years
      Clinton Up 210 % over 8 years
      Bush Down 40 % over 8 years
      Obama Up 182 % over 8 years
      Trump Up 30 W% over 2 years, 4 months

President Donald Trump often cites the stock market as a scorecard of his policies. Here’s how the S&P 500 performed under each president from Reagan to Trump.

I am not so much worried that a billionaire becomes president as I am that a non-rich person gets elected, and in 3 to 6 years becomes a millionaire.

wondering how much the president in actually affected the stock market?

              hard to quantify for sure,

re GM, IIRC they have paid back what was loaned, (correct?)

chrysler, then bought/merged with Mercedes, then bought/merged wiht Fiat

                  I think you are correct,

and now talks of Fiat/Chrysler merging with Renault?

That's what they say. But the FCA balance sheet in North America is not too bad these days. Jeeps, Ram Trucks, Minivans are all decent movers in their sectors. They ditched garden-variety autos ahead of GM and Ford. They still sell the Challenger which is a sweet looking ride. Not sure how things are on the Fiat side. As for Renault....they have zero presence in North America so who knows. I think the merger is to give them a partner in the electric/self-driving arena, where no automaker wants to be without a hand in the game.

President Obama was the single-most reason that firearm sales INCREASED a BUNCH under his watch!

True, very true something I had not considered! Very much obliged for the reminder.

I still see a lot of Fiat's around, but have no idea if sales are good, bad, or flat,

Jeep is using Fiat/Alfa designs on some of there stuff,

and I think VW is still having the minivan rebadged for them as well?

The same question could be asked about congress since the democrats gained control of the house. Other than trying to block and resist everything Trump says, does or tries to implement and other than dreaming of something to impeach Trump over what have they accomplished since they took "control"?
