They are talking billions of tax payer money to be dolled out to desendants of slaves! How will they prove they are direct decendants of slaves?

I believe every country has had slavery at one point or another.

Ponce de Leon, when discovering the American Indians, nearly 100 years before Columbus, brought slaves with him. Some were black, most were white Europeans and some like the Native American Indians, he made slaves of when he arrived. As far as the European citizens go it may have been a case of cleaning out the prisons. In any event most of us are of European descendants of which most if not every country had slavery. Russia and China are well known for having slavery, perhaps even now. The blacks are only the most recent. We are probably all descendants of slavery by some stretch of the imagination and are just as entitled to any compensation. The blacks in this country have had welfare, food stamps, free school lunches, free insurance and in many cases free housing. Aside from contributing to putting another democrat back in the WH what are they really wanting? If it is money then the DNC should foot the bill since they are the ones behind it all in this country. It took a Republican to end it. If they don't like it here, feel they are being mistreated and want to return to their "roots" they have been free since 1865 to LEAVE.

Any possible requirement that reparation recipients prove their descent from slaves has been done away with by the NEW justification that ALL blacks living in this country today are victims of racism, & for that reason ALONE are "entitled" to reparations!

What we should hope for is that the Dems push this idea hard! I'm only worried that they won't.

Merely another desperate move by democrat candidates to get the black votes as we all know. Trump or someone needs to point out that whites are entitled as well as blacks, if not more so, to shut them up.

Some Irish were made slaves, and worked under the same conditions as Black slaves.

But give them reparations -- and they can endorse the check over to me. Two of my Great-grandfathers served in the Union Army.

Yes, there's a lot of missed opportunities by coward Republicans. The democrat simpletons make comments daily that the Republicans could and should make issue of. Then there is AOC who lives somewhere in the twilight zone. I really don't see how she can even dress and feed herself.

When this subject was brought in the 1970s someone suggested they be paid ONLY to those who can prove they are descended from slaves by those PROVEN to be descendants of slave owners. And anyone who lost a relative/ancestor in the Civil War-Union-will be exempt.
And there are those who argue that many of the problems of the black community today are self inflicted.
