One day ago! "Yesterday" is only one day ago, not days. Please let's be accurate if we are going to post. As I went looking for it on other sites from a "few" days ago just to see if there was a earlier version of the incident. Ray

The semi submersibles have been around for awhile. For a long time Navy Frigates with USCG Boarding Teams and USCG White Hull Cutters worked the Pacific trying to stop the smuggling. Now the Navy has retired the frigates and the burden is on a small USCG cutter fleet. The group that the cutters and other resources that are chopped too is Joint Interagency Task Force South out of Key West. https://www.jiatfs.southcom.mil/

What pictures I haven't seen on the big news sites are pictures of some fast boats captured by the cutter with bullet holes in the outboards. A USCG Hitron team flys in copters and they shoot out the engines if the boats will not stop.

My sons first cruise was on a 210ft cutter. They captured $132 million in drugs on that deployment. On a side note the operators of the craft get secured to the open deck until they can be transferred to a shore location for trial. The cutter erects a fly over the deck and they drug runners get to rest there.

Link with some good pictures of operations.

How big was the bust in Philly the other day, 1.3 Billion worth of coke? Do away with the demand, do away with the problem. My neighbor's kid stole my 23 year old Honda to go on a drug run in May.

Not easy of course and will never happen but I always said there should be a mandatory death sentence for anyone caught selling drugs. Not the users because they are addicted but no one has to sell drugs. The only way to get out of the death sentence would be to rat out other and bigger sellers.

I found out recently there actually are similar laws on the books. Like so many, they just aren't enforced perhaps because some two bit judge would block it so we have the problems.

Read about a sheriff (Ohio?) saying the users in his area are pushing the limits because they know if they OD EMTs have Narcan so they feel safe. Oughta tattoo a big NO on their forehead after the first usage. Mao understood.

I recall an article or 2 on it on different forums a day or 2 before that

Our police have just gotten training on the Narcan. The cop training them gave this big speak for t.v., that the money and all the training was worth it if one life was saved. 1300 deaths in AZ from overdoses. What percentage were just druggies? When some famous actor OD's it's always an "accidental overdose". Whoop's I took ten time the prescribed amount, how did that happen?

Most likely happened about a month ago. And the Coast Guard just recently released the video of it. Makes sense that the CG didn't want anything released right away until a through investigation was completed..

After the report jumping on a moving submarine will probably be banned. Pure cowboy. The Old West is still alive. I hope he gets a commentation. Spell check doesn't like it, screw spell check

Suppose the sub went into a dive, with that “cowboy” on board?

He could always hop off. Diving with an open hatch wouldn't be too bright though. I'm just a little surprised the hatch could be opened from the outside like that. I suppose there is a way to secure it from the inside but if so the crew wasn't expecting company obviously.

There was a Nazi submarine captured in WWII, U-505 -- the thing was carefully planned, and when this sub came to the surface the boarding party had chains they threw over the hatch coamings so the hatches couldn't be closed. They then entered and seized the sub's cryptography books and equipment -- it was a great intelligence coup.

Gentlemen the craft is not designed to submerge. These craft are designed for a low radar signature in hope of not being seen by the hunting ships and aircraft. The Coastguard boarding team members and boat crews are doing the jobs they are trained to do. The operators of the boats are usually poor fisherman or farmers either crewing these craft for the money or being coerced by the Cartels.
