    no, not at all,

a lot of folks were scared to death what a black man (even one that is 1/2) would do in office,
sad part is , he had a golden opportunity to improve race relations, yet he and Holder seemed bound and determined to set it back another 50yrs (which could be argued to be what has caused much of today's issues)

however I also think the fact the Obama and his crew did all they could do to perpetuate that myth by hiding his BC, and transcripts,

and yes, Trump has done the same with his taxes,

The answer to yours is NO. This, according to snopes.com. Well it's Snopes, you say. But read their answer and decide if you can do better.

We investigate claims that the conspiracy theory about Barack Obama not being born in the U.S. originated with Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign.

It remains, Birtherism is not a serious line of thought, right on a par with believing the earth is flat or that 72 virgins await you in heaven if you die right. That people still cling to it despite the fact that by its own history it makes an irrelevant claim, is proof that some people are doomed to be suckers. Go back and read what Trump tweeted about candidate Ted Cruz, if you can find it, for absolute proof that it's all a giant con.

    btw,

did you see my question on guilty white people and gunlaws?

I don't mind good questions, but reciprocity is important too.

Hawaii published a long form, and the State of Hawaii official whose job it is to certify that this is backed by the real deal did just that. But somehow that isn't good enough.

Say Boggs wanted to get a passport, and use his birth certificate as one form of ID. He might have an old copy around, but how do we know this isn't a clever forgery? He could get a fresh one from the State of Ohio, but how do we know that guy isn't in on the deal? How do we really know Boggs was born where he says he was? The Birther mythology (and that's what it is really) sustains itself on the notion that there is always one more question that can be asked about something that happened long ago. Obama and the state of Hawaii did more than was necessary, or right, and as proof one need look no further than the treatment of the Cruz campaign by the Birthers. If your dad is from Kenya then it's a big deal. But if he (supposedly) fled Castro's Cuba for Canada, then it's not.

When I turned 18 in WI, DLs did not yet have photos on them. If a guy wanted to drink he had to go get a photo ID. To do that I needed a copy of my birth certificate. The county did not issue the original! But rather a fresh form with the registrar's seal on it. And the good times rolled!

I picked up on this, "Do you exclude Obama's ethnic background as a motivating factor for Birtherism?"

That has me scratching my head -- the claim is Obama was born in Kenya. So the issue IS his "ethnic background."

Vernon's ethnic background is Irish, as he has told us many times. Nobody interprets that to mean he was born in Eire. One look at Obama makes African ethnicity a pretty safe bet regardless of the Hawaii street address of the hospital where he was born.

              Lyman,

Actually I don't bitch about the forum. That duty falls to others who are frustrated I suppose at not having an echo chamber. My sermon on the forum is: enjoy it while it lasts, because when it's gone it's gone, so meanwhile take the bad with the good.

A lot of guys have cleared out--no one is getting any younger--and some I can miss and others not. Actually I wouldn't mind hearing from Red a bit more. There's a lot of bile, sure, but I dunno, maybe I enjoy the brawling spirit he brings to the party. He's not too good to mix it up with anyone, and somehow that's a redeeming trait to me.
