    Minumum wage

California's largest chain of recycling redemption centers just closed all 284 of its locations, leaving 750 without jobs. They cited the depressed price of recycled aluminum and plastic but mostly the huge rise in operating costs resulting from minimum wage increases and required health care insurance. Most of the centers were conveniently located in grocery store parking lots. I used to drive maybe a mile to the one at the Safeway store where I shop. Now its not worth it to drive 10 miles for the 2 or 3 dollars I usually get. The overall result will be more cans and bottles in the landfills.

John, my deepest sympathy to those of you who live in these type of socialist states.

CA is always a little different. I don't know all the ins and outs but can collectors in Phx. would buy cans here and it paid to drive a semi tractor load over to CA.
