You crashed because you failed to maintain your aircraft ...

or you were a lousy pilot.
No matter how you look at these accidents, it has
to be a matter of human error. What else could it be ?
Don't take off in bad weather. Check the forecast.
Don't take off without gassing up. Check the oil. Kick the tires.
Don't fly at night - sky is full of Bats and Owls.
Don't let your four year old take the controls.
    Take the train.

Yes, you overestimated your flying skills. We had a crash here in NJ a few years ago, a Wall Street type, his wife and daughters and a friend from work. Took off in bad weather, the plane iced up.
Recall a section of a WWII training film I saw years ago-"Let's Learn To LIVE with Joe Instructor", covered pre-flight checks for the B-17.
I do a pre-ride check on my bicycles. Gee, where'd that brake block go ?

Remember John-John Kennedy -- what a screwup! That plane could have landed itself, if he had known how.

Is that the V-Tailed Bonanza? Of course, Mooneys have taken quite a few with standard configuration.

The same would happen if you let your dog take the controls. Dog gone.

John-John approaches the Pearly Gates after his accident. There is John Denver sitting on a bench strumming a guitar. He looks up, and says,"Aren't you John Kennedy?" John-John says "Yes I am, aren't you John Denver?" The musician inquires, Why are you here?" Kennedy answers, "Weather, and you?" "Fuel" says Denver.

I read that J-J wasn't certified for IFR ( instrument flight rules) and he left late and ran into a situation that required same. IFR required when ceiling 500' to less than 1,000 feet and /or visibility 1 to less than 3 miles. It was dark and he lost his understanding where he was in reference to the ground and went into a flat spin which he couldn't correct. FWIW

Exactly. Ironically, if he had simply kept his head, he could have got out of it.

In a case like that, monitor your turn-and-bank indicator to keep your wings level, and your climb-and-dive (and altimeter) to maintain constant altitude. Then make a slow 180 degree turn to come back on your reciprocal. If you flew into this thing, you can probably fly out of it. While you're at it, put out a May Day call and get someone on the ground to help you.

They say the Kennedys are "A political dynasty." No. They're an infestation.

Like all infestations they breed like cockroaches too. Look at the size of this family reunion.

Makes you wonder: how many more of them will get into politics, law, drugs, and corruption. How many more will die because of them?
