Buying Greenland is a great idea ...

democrats laugh at the idea because they haven't had an original
idea since their party formed. This idea is way, way above their heads.
As the article says, the value of Greenland was appreciated by President
Andrew Johnson for it's resources, and later by President Truman for it's
strategic value, President Trump also sees it's value.
It's strategic value would never and I mean Never occur to a democrat.
Possibly JFK had he lived, but he would no longer pass muster as a democrat.

I'd rather have the Danish healthcare system.

Smart ass Danes think it's a big joke.

“We believe that by giving the U.S. an educational system and national health care, it could be transformed from a vast land mass into a great nation,” a spokesperson for Denmark said.

(Today, roughly 58,000 people live in Greenland, the majority of whom are Inuit.)-

Denmark will be sorry they didn't sell it when global warming sinks the place and they have to put them all up somewhere.

Actually Greenland will rise from losing the weight of the glacial ice.

Hank Johnson is against the idea. He feels that any buildup could cause Greenland to capsize and it would be money down the drain.

Where it would fall apart for the U.S. is that the Danish system covers only registered Danish residents. All the undocumented and "visitors" are not covered. Agencies in Denmark voluntarily cover the undocumented, but that would quickly be overwhelmed in the U.S.

Do you know what the Danish healthcare system COSTS? At one time, it was possible for a Dane to owe MORE than 100% in income tax.

Greenland has a fascinating settlement history. It turns out that the much-beloved Norse abandoned the place while the lowly Inuit made a go of it.

No it means that the weight of the ice presses down on the land mass and that as the ice melts, the land rises. Another factor is gravity, the attraction between glacial ice and the ocean. Remember, tides are caused by lunar gravitational effects.

In other artic news, this. Someone should tell the Salmon that nothing has changed.

                        no humor today?

would be curious to see how much change (height of that land that is rising) is measured, and how much change it actually is,,,,, if any,

and compression is what it is called

Most climate-related "humor" here is laden with derision. July was the hottest month on record. Period. At this point people might as well deny the earth is spherical or orbits the sun and insist that the Apollo program was a feasibility study to see if we could end world hunger with green cheese, if one wants to deny anthropomorphic climate change.

It's flat. Stay close to shore. Don't watch Capricorn 1 on the movie channel.
