70% of Americans support an assault weapon ban ...

I didn't know that, but then again I didn't know AR 15s cost only $395.
    Seems there's a lot of things I don't know.
Luckily for us though, Beto O'Rourke knows these things.

Beto said "We have to meet people where they are"

This guy's smart. If he can figure that out, he deserves to be President.

100% of US citizens shouldnt go to the British/DailyMail tabloid for news and opinion on the United States.

Also, reading the Dailymail will raise your cholesterol.

DT should at least quote US tabloids, agreed.

The correct term is battle rifle and semi auto versions aren't even that. Assault rifle or weapon is a liberal term only. No rifle or weapon has ever assaulted anyone.

Ban all weapons of war? Were not flintlocks used in a war once upon a time?

Point taken but as you know, firepower matters. The antis aren't so dumb as to not know that, and JCG's rifle was an innovation to do what? Give the army more firepower in a service rifle. It wasn't out of concern that soldiers might break a nail when manually cycling the bolt on the M1903. Firepower matters.

Actually the term "assault rifle" comes from the German "Sturmgewehr" which literally means "assault rifle." The first such weapon was the StG 44, which defines the class -- a selective fire weapon chambered for an intermediate cartridge (the 8mm Kurz) which is more powerful than a sub-machine cartridge but less powerful than a full-size battle rifle,

A battle rifle is chambered for a full-size cartridge and may or may not be capable of selective fire. Good examples are the M1 Garand and the M14.

Assault "weapon" is a liberal term, and has no definition.
