Where are the headlights on a submarine???

I was on a techies web site and a lighting expert on LED’s, CFL’s, etc. was lecturing us about headlights.

I asked him a simple question.

“Where are the head lights on a submarine?”

It took him three paragraphs to explain to me why submarines don’t have headlights.

Some small submersibles have lluminating lights for cameras or possibly human operators. Lights tend to be in the forward direction for navigation purposes.

The headlights on a submarine are in the head -- so the sailors can see the urinal.

No. Getting out to change a flat is frustrating and opening the trunk to get the spare out wouldn't be a good thing either.

Sounds like life aboard a ship with no women.

I've always wondered why they don't have viewports-cf. Captain Nemo's Nautilus and the Seaview.

Note toerots reply... he doesn’t have a clue what a head is on a submarine, aircraft carrier or a tug boat.

He is stupid and never right about anything. A head on a ship is a toilet. If there are no lights in the head the sailors would be peeing on the floor. Togor is the synonym for stupid.

Sorry but the joke wasn't that funny so I played it straight. It wasn't terrible, but not that great either. And had I jumped on your punch line, you would have bitched about that. But you want it, so here it is...ba da bum dum! (rimshot sound). And I think you need to pay closer attention to your med schedule, even it out a little.

Lyman, the thing is there is a huge asymmetry in the way Red and I message each other. He spews epithets and invective and seldom gets called on it (you being a notable exception). I can engage Red without bile and venom dripping from every syllable. If people don't like the way Red posts, they can fix Red. Most don't seem to mind, and I don't let it bother me.
