Too many People = too few Animals ...

Animal numbers are dwindling everywhere while human
numbers are increasing, especially in India and other
backward countries. It seems like it's merely a matter of
time before the only land inhabitants on planet Earth will
    be humans, rats and cockroaches.

Trail use near Vail, Colorado, has more than doubled since 2009. It’s had a devastating impact on a herd of elk

We need to mobilize hunters -- any animal that is hunted is protected (which is why there are more Whitetail Deer in America today than there were when Columbus discovered America.)

Trophy hunting should be abolished. If you're not going to eat it, don't kill it.

It's pretty easy to estimate carrying capacity of any environment. We have more quality environment today than in Columbus time -- when much of the country was climax forest, which is very poor for animals like deer.

Why should the government invest in agriculture any more than government should invest in shoe stores or adult book shops?

Never mind the near extinction of apex predators...besides us.

Habitat loss is the #1 driver. Some species are able to dovetail their food supply into the human food production chain.

Animals are running out of places to live. Humans continue to overpopulate and move away from each other. Many choose to live in the country or woods where it is peaceful and quiet but also where Bambi, Yogi and Bullwinkle live. Then they complain about it.

This reminds me of people who move close to the airports then complain about the noise.

Democrats are probably pleased with animal reductions since they believe animal farts are the cause of all of mankind problems.

Democrats are much more likely to support habitat legislation. Republicans like to strip away the rules so the land can be logged, grazed, farmed, drilled or mined. Wildlife, schmildlife. What's some dumb owl or salamander when there are jobs at stake. Listen to the farmers and ranchers in the west coast on a dry year, how they bitch about water they want being left in the river so salmon can spawn. Do they vote like liberal Democrats in the cities? Not on your life

In response to a really dumb statement, "If you're not going to eat it, don't kill it."

Virtually all animals that are killed as "trophies" are eaten. Every deer or elk that I have killed has been eaten.

People shoot Elephants and Rhinos - do they eat them ?
They also shoot Lions and Tigers - do they eat them ?
                          How about Leopards ?
There's that Woman who shot a Giraffe - you think she ate it ?

I suppose I should put my 2 cents in here. From what I understand, the meat from these animals taken by trophy hunters is donated to the villages in the area.

Your replies aren't getting any smarter. You're starting to assume your imagination trumps reality.

Large animals are definitely eaten -- local people will come out of the bush with axes, pots, knives and so on to butcher them. In Botswana, for example, elephant meat is an important source of protein for local farmers.

Big cats are also eaten by villagers.

But where do they shoot tigers?
