Who set the Amazon and Africa ablaze ? ...

Personally, I suspect it may have been Algore, a man too stupid
to be trusted with matches. But, it appears that most believe it
to be the fault of farmers and ranchers in both countries.
No matter who it was you can bet the activist nitwits who have
fallen hook line and sinker for this fairy tale science will blame
it on Climate Change, or to give it it's correct name, Global Warming.

China is looking for alternate soybean suppliers. Brazilians have got the message and are looking for more land. The Amazon wouldn't be feeling as much pressure if the Chinese were buying North Dakota beans. Collateral damage.

Brazil has a long term interest in deforestation of the rain forests to produce acreage to support cultivation of sugar cane and palm oil for biofuels.

That may be the case here. Brazil wants no interference from the UN, France or anyone else and has refused $20M in aid and help.

When I was in Singapore in the mid '90s, we had about 90 days of extreme air pollution from smoke from slash-and-burn agriculture in Borneo.
