Spy in the Kremlin

So reports are that the US had a spy in Putin's circle that sent us reports of election interference. One of the challenges of covert intel is that if acted on, it can alert the target. The allies had that dilemma with Ultra, for
example. So I won't rush to criticize the Obama administration. But it does make me wonder what is known about Trump's involvement in any of this. They did get the spy out, fearing for his safety, and I'm guessing Trump is gonna be pissed because he is heavily into his ideas of absolute loyalty.
