    The Sacklers

Maybe a thread everyone can agree on for a change.

The family owns Purdue Pharma, legal pushers of Oxy. Getting hammered in state courts.

Cut them some slack in the LLC spirit or go after their cash too? I point out that someone stopped on the interstate for 7 mph over plus a dead taillight can be relieved of their bag of money without probable cause.

just one fish in the pond,

the entire Rx/Big Pharma medicine world is in dire need of restructuring

legally , the LLC will take the hit, the family not so much,

guessing you can file a civil suit of some kind, but otherwise they are not touchable, correct?

Not a lawyer, but one state at least has uncovered a trail of wire transfers from the company through shells to private entities. If enough of those are found it could spell trouble. No doubt we will soon hear of the wondrous support the Shackler's gave to charity.

Yeah, put 'em out of business.
Put PG&E out of business too as they caused fires in California.
Put Ford and General Motors out of business - their cars kill people.
Cancel the Internet as staring into screens causes short sightedness.

Get rid of banks -- they cause bank robberies.
Keep women locked up -- they cause rapes.

I have a lot of sympathy for people who become addicted to drugs by taking drugs prescribed (or over-prescribed) by their Doctors. They are victims of both their Doctors and the drug companies that told the Doctors that the drugs were not overly addictive. I have absolutely no sympathy for idiots who take drugs for recreational purposes and OD, particularly when they know that the drugs are deadly. And yes, it is said that they often don't know that their drug of choice had been laced with fentanyl or carfentanyl but if they take recreational drugs then it is a self-inflicted wound and as they say. "tough luck". I keep thinking that with all the information out there about the dangers of these drugs that either people will stop taking them or the idiots will die out and solve the problem. Clearly I am underestimating the number of idiots out there. The drug companies are only partly to blame. Mostly the decision is an individual one

My wife was an Army Nurse and took care of wounded during the Viet Nam war. I was an infantryman and wounded twice. We both saw what these drugs can do -- the Army philosophy in those days was to treat the pain first, then when the wounds healed, put the patient though de-tox. I can't tell you how many friends of mine wound up screwed by that. I refuse to take such drugs, and so does my wife -- despite a total hip replacement.

Probably just as well the Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons didn't have drugs
otherwise us lot wouldn't be here.

Don't recall the government going after criminal gangs selling drugs in the 'hood with such venom.
In the Sacklers case they are seen as moneybags, deep pockets-a treasure chest.
DWI causes fatalities, with the push for legal MJ are they going to go after those purveyors ?
