    Cop could have handled it better. Could have handled it worse too.

    If you have to approach someone who you know will distrust your motives, you can either show some tact or plow straight ahead. This cop mostly did the latter. But...nothing here IMO that requires packing him off to re-ed camp for sensitivity training. Doesn't rise to that level.

        Could have been: Excuse me sir, may I ask you a question about (whatever went on here)?

        You know, like the TV cops do.

        Point to ponder is that the school principal typically requires a higher level of educational qualification and pays a higher salary than beat cop. Didn't help when the cop suggested the citizen was part of the problem of a "no snitch" culture.
