Trump says stuff at the rally that would get his posts deleted here. Make of that what you will. I also submit that it is a Jim Jones style rally. Trump is serving kool-aid without a doubt. Maybe a slower-acting variety, but poison just the same.

Trump's brand of poison is to deliberately undermine his audience's belief in our entire political system and then announce that only by direct rule through him can redress of their grievances (which he has deliberately stoked) become possible. Insofar as our system has worked for 200+ years because enough people are willing to stay invested in it for long term reasons, even when things go against them in the short run, Trump's message IS poison. In that respect his desire to topple the system is no different than the anarchists as a first step. Now whereas anarchists are anti-hierarchical and would replace the existing system with self-managed, self-governed societies (naively some say), Trump is a hierarchist in the extreme. I reject both anarchists and extreme hierarchists like Trump and prefer the existing system of limited government in all forms.

It's no accident that one of Trump's big backers recently went on Fox and declaimed attacks on him as "regicide". Look the word up if you have to.

Long story short, a conservative like me with a libertarian bend can look at the Trumpists with their desire for hierarchy and say with good reason that they're doing self-governing 100% wrong.

A loaded phrase for the Trump era, which basically means anyone in govenrment who resists the word of Donald. The very formulation of the phrase, and its origins, guarantees that it will not pass muster with me.

So Lyman, you will tell me that you don't want Trump to be a dictator. In the next breath can you tell me what institutional oversight you consider appropriate for keeping that from happening? Certainly the man shows the appetite for the job. What's to keep him getting it? This is an important question. And whatever constraints you would willingly place upon Trump, it's a sure-money bet that he will rail against them. So the fact that Trump is b*tching about limits to his power moves me not one inch. And the fact that he's getting it from all sides is to me a really good sign.
