    Running A Business Post-Takeover

We've all heard the stories, and some guys here have unfortunately been hurt in their retirement--a business gets sold and the new people brought in don't know the operation, which has been running stably for years. Foul-ups start to happen as old timers are pushed out of the picture, and eventually the whole shebang spirals into the ground, with the folks on the floor getting the worst of it.

That's what the State Department seems like to me with this new management. Even 18th Century kings knew they needed a cadre of trained diplomats.

Why don't you go there and give them lessons in diplomacy.
And if you have a mind to you could show Doctors how to cure diseases.
Then, if you have some spare time you could fix the climate, the hunger
problem in India and then show our Generals how to destroy incoming asteroids.

Re: Cadre of trained diplomats. Problem is that diplomats who have served in multiple administrations do not always fit in when a new administration sets in place policies/priorities which differ from what was previously in place. Sincerely. bruce.

Or better still, if he doesn't like "throwing the Kurds under the bus" he can go to the Middle East and fight on their side.

Could I do a better job than your typical lickspittle political appointee? I think so.

The diplomacy of the 17th-18th-19th Centuries was characterized by a great deal of capriciousness, changes and reversals of alliances, too often a ruler's personal whimsies and animosities counted for more than national self-interest, dynastic alliances, religious affiliation, etc. In January 1762 Empress Elizabeth of Russia died and was succeeded by her heir Peter III who immediately reversed Russian policy from being an enemy of Frederick II to being an ally and saved Prussia from defeat.

Go for it. And after you fail miserably you'll get a hefty pension.
