    Missed an important date.

    It was 238 years ago on Oct. 19, 1781 the British forces at Yorktown surrendered.
    Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

      Yep. The example of the storming of Redoubt Number 10 and the emplacement of the Grand French Battery convinced Cornwallis to surrender BEFORE his fortifications were breached. As a result, the British were not entitled to a surrender with honor.

      The British came out playing a nursery tune, "The World Turned Upside Down." The American band replied with "Yankee Doodle."
