Well, that's the point. During the Medieval Warm Period, the earth was much more fruitful and people were healthier. There are some who theorize that the end of the Medieval Warm Period and the onset of the Little Ice Age, which coincided with the Black Death, made the plague much worse. Because of the cold people were poorly nourished and huddling together, sharing fleas.

It's not just the mean values but also the weather extremes, which are increasing. Just as a man lives to a ripe old age by avoiding catastrophe, a crop produces a good yield by being spared damaging weather extremes. Taking a simplistic view of the situation and saying "what's wrong with that?" is just a polite way of saying one can't be bothered by the subject.
