    Impeachment -- Secret Senate Vote?

This article says that it could take as few as 3 GOP Senators signing on to make the Senate vote a secret one should impeachment go to a trial. Some have speculated that in the case of a secret ballot, Trump could get convicted by the Senate. It feels unlikely to me but there are so many different angles to all of this that the eventual outcome might surprise us all.

Trump did nothing wrong! Biden certainly did wrong with Ukraine. He even admitted it!

Man, talk about grasping at straws. I'd suggest reading the update at the bottom. If anything like a secret vote happened it would be suicide for the Republican Party and would guarantee Democrat majorities for decades.

The polls? Trump's numbers haven't varied much more than a few points since before he got elected. If the polls were really that predictive regarding him we'd have President Clinton right now.

One can almost imagine a "witch hunt" to find out who voted how in the secret ballot.

Ocasio-Cortez spoke the truth today. She said all of this impeachment stuff has no chance of removing the Prez. from office, as delicious as that would be to her and her buddies; it is rather about tainting him for the upcoming election. That is a massive gamble and the results of that strategy are, to say the very least, unpredictable.

They're doing it to protect their candidates from getting effed over by Trump's Federal Government, and rightfully so. Anyone would do the same in those circumstances. Also make the Senators go on record as endorsing or rejecting what Trump did. It's not the man in this case, it's the action. I'm yet to hear anyone here defend the action on the face of it, which is telling.

The question on my mind is will Trump try it again after the vote is over and election day draws near? Probably he will, but he'll have to at least think about whether or not it will backfire on him again, if people will decide that they've simply had too much of this guy.

Think about it -- the whole political machinery of the United States is being used to achieve a narrow political goal. It's despicable!

You mean shaking down the Ukraine President for a political errand? Agreed.

no, he means trying to unseat an elected president,
and use the positions they were elected to, (to actually do a job 'for the people') instead of using it to attempt to sway votes

We've been over this. It's not about 2016. It's about Summer, 2019, and also November 2020. By your logic winning an election gives Trump a Golden Ticket to do whatever the eff he wants for 4 years. The Constitution says otherwise. And once again, a defense of Trump that fails to engage his actions. When they have DNA, fingerprints on the murder weapon, video logs and an eyewitness to the murder, I guess the defense lawyer talks about how crappy home life was and how mean the police were. Anything to avoid direct accountability. Well, answer this: Why on earth would I want a shirker for President?

you argument would hold water if it weren't for the fact that as mentioned elsewhere, Trump has met resistance to damn near everything since the morning after the election,

and it has been a constant barrage since,

                            every
                            single
                            day,

when plan A did not work, then lets try plan B,,,

what are we on now??? Plan R or S??
