It's the holidays. Feed the hungry.

Feed the hungry, feed the hungry. How are we supposed to end poverty if we keep feeding them?

Yes, you wonder where those $40-60,000 a year welfare benefits go. People I know who have volunteered at local soup kitchens have noted the sense of entitlement so many who come there have, and have said most should be sent to Weight Watchers.
My church has an Angel Tree with gift requests from the county "social services" agency, last year one woman took the request for a Peppa Pig playset-she found out it costs $90 !. This year we put a $25 limit on toy requests. I took the request for a tricycle for a 3 year old, I told the young woman supervising it this year that I would get one from one of the thrift shops I go to. I found a nice Made in the USA one for $15.

Charity inflation. They can find their own way to Goodwill. I live in Phoenix Arizona. If you drive south on the interstate you will see truck loads of merchandise going south(Manuels Trucking, I mean just 1/2 ton trucks). Why? Because rich Americans donate stuff/and Mexicans can transport stuff for less than it takes to build a factory in Mexico.

If someone could argue that helping the hungry, less fortunate, at the holidays is not just some trite impulse from a bronze-age religion, but actually a selfish act of Darwinism, would that make it OK? Good grief. If it makes people feel better, the poor are otherwise an enormous source of profits throughout the year. They part with every nickel and often overpay. Merry Christmas, poor people.

I have never understood 'food pantrys'. Welfare humanoids get all the food they want for free. Toys for Tots? Those toys will be on Ebay within days. New bicycles for welfare kids? Why? Won't a good used one be OK?

Very clearly we have no plan for ending poverty. As Bob Bechtel (the token Liberal on Fox) said, "You don't understand. Poverty programs aren't meant to end poverty, they're meant to make poor people more comfortable in their poverty."
