    Voter suppression

    https://www.frontpagemag.com/point/2...el-greenfield/

    1. Trump is trying to pick up black voters
    2. This will divert black votes from Democrats
    3. Anything that diverts black votes from Democrats is voter suppression

Is that his reasoning or yours?

Actually Democrats like it when people vote in large numbers (and yes, legally) because they figure the numbers are on their side.

The people who adopt the logic that says "better 1000 votes cast provisionally or not at all instead of 1 vote cast in error" are invariably aligned with the GOP, which suggests they agree.

Voting should be on a weekend day or a federal holiday (if possible).

Encouraging voting should be a national priority.

Voting should be a paid holiday. It should require a photo identification. It should require registration at a minimum 30 days prior to the election. If someone is not concerned enough to get registered, then they should just sit the election out and pay better attention next election cycle. Students should only be allowed to vote where their parents live ... unless that student is no longer dependent upon their parents for support, etc. It should be in person and not by some mailed ballot, etc. If someone cannot physically get to the polling place, then let them go to courthouse, etc. No one should be allowed to vote ahead of the election date simply b/c it is more convenient for them, they like it, etc. All done on one day period. Furthermore ... all votes should be recorded with a paper record to preclude any possible fiddling with a computer ballot machine. Sincerely. bruce.

Balloting by mail is a remedy for cases where the government assumes low turnout in a region and thereby packs a large population into one polling location, with the effect being long wait times that serve to discourage participation. It occurs in big cities and rural areas primarily. Suburbs less often.

As a longtime Election Commissioner, let me tell you how to steal an election:

            1. Get a copy of the registered voters list -- that's a public record and you're entitled to it. Here in Arkansas, you can get it on disk for $20.

            2. Get a copy of the telephone book.

            3. Match them up. For every person in the phone book who is NOT registered, fill out a registration form and take them to the courthouse.

            4. Request absentee ballots for all the people you registered.

Elections are regularly stolen in Arkansas? It must be so, otherwise why post. Other states don't report this problem. So what is Arkansas doing wrong?

I doubt he'll elaborate on whether this is a practical or hypothetical concern. Voter suppression is justified by saying some voters are harmed by invalid ballots. Not considered is the harm to would-be voters who are unable to cast ballots because of introduced obstacles.

In Arkansas until recently, most voter fraud was in the Democrat primaries. Other than that it was in Presidential races.

The comment about "other states don't report this problem" reminds me of a story about a security check of a headquarters that found appalling security lapses. When the commander was shown the report he said, "Not to worry. We have no spies here."

After gasping and choking, the inspector asked, "How do you know that?"

"Well, we haven't caught any, have we?"

In hindsight it would have been more succinct to ask "what's a phone book?"
