Utopia is coming to California's homeless ...

Thousands of down on their luck victims of liberalism plus
vagrants and n'ere-do-wells lured to the State by promises
of largesse just might see their dreams come true.
If they live long enough. It's Lost Horizon with bells on it,
promising everything Shangri-La had to offer except immortality.
Maybe even that if you believe in the tooth fairy.

"A California activist group revealed their plan to create a $3billion private city to provide accommodation to the state's 150,000 homeless people."

And when these 150,000 people are all in one place, they will become hard-working, self-supporting citizens, right? The town will prosper as some of them become entrepreneurs and employ the others. They will sober up, get clean of drugs and no longer prey on each other.

Didn't we do this in the 50's and the 60's in the cities of the Northeast. They are called the projects and for many citizens they turned over time into crime invested communities that are not a nice place for the people to live.

Cabrini Green comes to mind -- back in the day it was the most dangerous place in a dangerous city.

This idea raises so many questions. Do they have parking for their shopping carts?

How are they going to pay for police and sanitation, utilities and so on? Or is the plan just to throw a giant tent over the city when it's full and fumigate it?

How about a nice tropical island, far enough from the mainland to discourage escape attempts-make sure chum is dropped into the waters to keep the sharks interested- have them learn to raise their own food, etc. ?

I was thinking an obsolete cruise ship. Might take more than one. I don't intent to move anyone to tears.

Sounds like Alcatraz to me. What with protecting the seals, the sharks have really come back, and swimming across the bay would be a real challenge.
