    My friend Bueford Cooper

He flew 187 sorties in a B-26 from North Africa over Italy in WWII. He has an impeccable resume. He was recalled for duty during the Korean conflict. He has been the American Legion Commander for Missouri. He is in his 90's...

Sometimes I cut and paste from his emails... And every time I do the stooges laugh and ridicule us,

Thank you Red for posting that!
My first 'boss', Fred Long, was a mechanic on bombers in Africa. After the war, he owned an auto service station where I had my first job at age 16.

Red my grandfather made the ultimate sacrifice on a mission in a B26 Marauder. I never met him obviously but much of his correspondence survives. I can tell you that he would have no time for some of the nonsense that you post, so at least one Marauder man is not in your column.

Regarding Mr. Cooper: thank you for the service and congratulations on a long life.

He would be fine with it. WW2 was fought and won by a very different breed of American than commonly found today on online forums. The postwar world order, conceived by Roosevelt and for which they fought and died, and in which we all lived for the past 70+ years, is now eagerly dismantled by Trump and those who support him. What they propose to put in its place in the world, and how it is an improvement, they haven't said. But yeah would be fine with me standing in defense of that for which he fought and died.

Could you please define what the post war order you referenced to was? And how has Trump dismantled it? Just curious not sure what you mean, Ray

Another Red straw man, Art. No one here has laughed or ridiculed the man. If Red posted something if his without attribution for which a rebuttal exists, then it's no disrespect to the man to rebut the argument.

                        Red is Trolling.

No one, not one person here, knew of Mr. Cooper's military service. To a man here, no one would besmirch his character on political affiliations as Red himself (and many others) have other veterans. We are all Americans and we all do cherish our freedoms. For that, we can all agree, is owed to men like Bueford Cooper.

Has Red ever ridiculed the late senator, John McCain? On countless occasions. The mere insinuation that a combat veteran is somehow beyond politucal discourse was something missed on Red when it suited his argument. He insults Mr. Cooper's service by exploiting him in this way.

Togor's post above, "People should know their history".

Not sure, but was this your response to my question or to someone else? Ray

Ray we don't want to hijack Red's thread even if it is headed nowhere, but Trump's antithapy towards US leadership of multilateral organizations is well known. Simply put he thinks the burdens of leadership fall too heavily on this country for what we receive in return, and are better left to other nations to the extent any country leads others at all. That is as anti-Rooseveltian as a foreign policy can get. And the government was not shy in WW2 about inculcating the troops with Roosevelt's vision. Troops fight for their own more than any geopolitical idea, but this is not to say they don't need there to be some kind of Big Idea in the picture.

I must be pretty dumb, as I Watched the video but don't see how it relates to Trump and Roosevelt, Ray
