There's no quarrel here, unless the claim is that Trump's foreign policy approach is tons better than anything we've seen from a US president in the last 80 years. I don't know if that's the claim, but I am detecting a reluctance to recognize that Trump represents a moral break in foreign policy from an otherwise revered figure like Reagan.
Reagan had a different Russia to deal with,

at that time, if you were around then, the Cold War was still going strong, and we (well, maybe at the top levels) did not know what we do now about the Soviet Union, during that time frame,

the Democratic party was still trying to move things in their direction as well, just not much luck for them (thankfully)

wasn't also the time period (80's) that Biden had his troubles w/ getting caught plagiarizing something.....

Putin was KGB trained and has a national policy for Russia of reasserting strength in the Soviet sphere of influence. Suppression of political dissent is still the norm there, and the West remains the primary bogeyman in domestic propaganda. Those are similarities that a modern-day Reagan would have no trouble identifying as relevant. However if one simply can't see an apples-to-apples comparison with Russia, then there is one to be had with North Korea, which has changed very little if at all. No way does Reagan stoop to say sweet things to the ruling Kim, while the gulags remain full.

The Gipper never gave an interview remotely like this either, especially @2:38.

Here is an interview Reagan gave in 1988 on Soviet television. The questions are not translated (YouTube subtitles of the Russian are useless). A lot of it is just the sort of pablum that one expects in such a venue, but @15:50 Reagan gives an answer that cuts to the heart of the difference between the two systems. It's an answer delivered to the Soviet people that should resonate with everyone here, and should also make Trump's inclination towards authoritarian rulers over the democratically-elected leaders of the West even more jarring in comparison.

...and it will never be the Russia of the 18th century.

Sam, you don't understand. Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit and Baltimore are EXACTLY the dream of the perfect utopian world the National Socialistic, Progressive, Democratic party want.... They want everybody (except them) to be living on the on street defecating and dying. They want to tell you what, when, and where you eat, what and when you drink, they want you to smoke pot (now legal in most Blue States), and totally depending on them and their wills and nils. That way the freedoms as written in the Constitutions, are nil and void. No need for elections, ID cards, or having any privacy. Under their standards, there is no such things as a "woman," or a "man." God and DNA has no standing in the question. In the new utopia a mother would have to present her newborn to the Federal authorities for them to decide whether it is a boy, a girl, or an it.

And that is why they want our guns so badly. Police power otherwise can not fully be enforced.

Red flags and common sense should pop up everywhere in the world when only one group of people, the democrats, want our guns. People should ask: "why is that?"
