I have a feeling that the plane did not have an engine fire that caused the accident. Iran is covering up the accident. I see what looks like shrapnel holes.

Well, that's natural -- you don't want to get everyone stirred up until you have proof.

Holes in the fuselage of a plane that had an engine failure are not all that uncommon -- when the engine comes apart, all sorts of pieces fly out.

This whole thing is just more evidence that the Iranian military is not nearly as good as their Democrat supporters, believe. And yes, with that said, the Iranians should have shut down all commercial aviation while they launched their attack... but they either didn't or didn't tell the military. Eventually we will find out that they are bunch of blundering idiots and incapable of doing much of anything right.

And yes if the Democrats had known about the Baghdad drone hit, they would have cheerfully informed the World.

But, if the Democrats had known in advance the 9/11 attacks, it would have been morally wrong to warn America.

BTW Soleimani was not the only Iranian General to die in the drone strike. There were two other high ranking military officers and likely their staff members that died...

So, now all the worlds airlines are detouring around one quarter of the world. Always a day late and a dollar short. OK, so if a SCUD(or whatever) shot down the plane it shouldn't be any problem at all to prove it via chemicals, paint, metalurgey, ect. There's no way it can't be resolved pretty precisely. As long it trained people are doing it.
Of course, if in six months a nice quiet professional panel explained that it was just a coincidence that the[poorly trained] Ukrainian pilots screwed up on takeoff and crashed the plane, that won't help dispel the conspiracy for folks who really love conspiracies(you know, Hillary/demo/Siros stuff). Of course it's not a conspiracy. It would just be really bad luck for the Iranians.

People in power hardly ever travel alone(like rappers). They are the leaders, kind of like the way wolves work. It's nature, we like wolves, we don't like hyenas, but you can't pick and chose.

Actually I'm pretty happy with my job and don't want to investigate accidents, too much blood and gore. The missile or missiles that hit the aircraft were SAM's and not part of the missiles fired at Iraq. Sometimes you have to look fast at pictures before they disappear. The pictures I saw of a part of the fuselage clearly had holes that were caused by an inward force, not an outward force. I've seen enough pictures of USAF aircraft with battle damage to lean towards the concept that a missile caused these holes and not engine failure especially since you don't see a 737 blow up often inflight that would cause it to burst into flames and crash, that combined with the reaction of the Iranians made me suspect.

Now the PM of Canada is claiming his citizens were killed by a SAM. So eat me.

I'm amazed at the video of the missile hitting the plane. Is that an indicator of how much surveillance we have in the area?

Terminal "dumba$$ness by the Iranians.

Apparently the culprit was the Russian SA 15 "Gauntlet" system. It's a very good low to medium altitude system that has capabilities similar to the Israeli "Iron Dome." It also has 0n automatic mode which is used to decrease time from acquisition to launch. If it was set on "automatic" (which would be incredibly foolish under the circumstances) that would probably explain a lot.

The big question is why were there flight operations at all at that airport in the middle of these combat missile launches??? Apparently there was a lady on the plane who texted her husband that she had reservations about the flight because of the political/military situation. Unfortunately she didn't listen to her intuition.

This definitely didn't make the Iranians any friends.
