Attendance at Gettysburg re-enactments has been going down for years. So has membership in Civil War Roundtables. The reason for this is quite clear. They no longer teach truthful American history in our schools. But they do learn about the importance of the LGBT community and "the enormous contributions they have made to our country." This is what happens when the left wing controls our schools. In our local district this year they has a couple of these freaks all dressed up in outlandish outfits talking about this to kindergartners! And only a handful of parents objected.
When my wife and I first moved to our home more than 50 years ago our town was solidly Republican. But the Liberals who came fleeing from Philadelphia brought their politics with them and it is now overwhelmingly Democratic.Comment

So.... where did you come from DT ???? .... and what did ya bring with ya ???.... are you really an attribute to this country?...... from your postings I think not .

You are aware there are multiple flights to London every single day..... aren't you ? If you are so unhappy here why don't ya get on one ????Comment

You are the American hating guy that prefers Columbia over America. You openly tell us that your Daddy is a low life SOB because he is a retired veteran. You only hire illegal immigrants that only speak Spanish and pay them slave wages. You are trying to overthrow the 2016 election.So.... where did you come from DT ???? .... and what did ya bring with ya ???.... are you really an attribute to this country?...... from your postings I think not .

Fun watching a star burn out."The first gun that was fired at Fort Sumter sounded the death-knell of slavery. They who fired it were the greatest practical abolitionists this nation has produced." ~BG D. UllmanComment

PM's. I've gotten a handful. It's been a while. No, not from Red. Actually I'm a little hurt, but I got chastised by someone once. Then there was the old guy(pretty well known. I'll say Texas Red to fill in the blank) who reached out. He's long dead I suppose. Ah,those were the days. I've was looking at old family photos for seven hours today so I might be a little nostalgic. If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.Comment

Yes Red,the Civil War is slowly fading into obscurity for many reasons. I have been to Gettysburg many times in 50+ yrs. I haveYes, it is from lack of participation. There are several reasons for that, but the primary problem is that the millennials have never heard of the Civil War let alone Gettysburg battle.
My niece is the manufacturers rep for one of the top supporters of these reenactments... and that is what she is telling me.
seen many changes there which have signaled the decline of interest. Many folks are more interested in making the pilgrimage
there now to go on one of the numerous "ghost tours" if nothing else. Many merchants who ran history oriented shops are slowly
going out of business in favor of craft beer shops, tattoo / piercing parlors and more safe family oriented pursuits. After all the
war is disturbing and socially unacceptable in these enlightened times. The veterans wanted places like these preserved to the
memory of the events and those who fought / died there. Yes Captain Obvious, the veterans are all gone now and someday the
generations of those who remember them will follow. The Civil War was an event that changed and shaped this republic over
many years in many ways. Some may be indifferent for whatever the reasons may be but it is part of our history. Agree with it or not.Comment
