The pharmaceutical companies have to be happy, or not.
Primary driver is the addicts have finally started dying off from opioids, and the supply isn't what it use to be.
Birth rate is at a 32 year low, which has more to do with a "good" economy, than a 77 year old getting another year."The first gun that was fired at Fort Sumter sounded the death-knell of slavery. In some ways yes, but in the long run economic growth is driven by population growth. If Trump wants 3% and can't get it from the birth rate, and won't get it from immigration, then that narrows it down.Comment

Also, Vernon may not want to put the re-election champagne on ice quite yet.
The Trump administration has admitted that aluminum and steel tariffs made some companies less competitive than their foreign competitors, requiring an expansion of the protection regime. The phenomenon is called cascading tariffs.

U.S. farm bankruptcy rates jumped 20% in 2019 - to an eight-year high - as financial woes in the U.S. agricultural economy continued in spite of massive federal bail-out funding, according to federal court data."The first gun that was fired at Fort Sumter sounded the death-knell of slavery. interesting,
I have an Uncle that works in the Farm Insurance business,
not selling, but claims,
he stayed fairly busy the past few years
also said there was a bit of fraud in the industry last year,
several farmers were pissed they did not get the payout they expected for crop failures, tried to say they burnt up from a hot late summer or drowned from early rains,,,
seems one claimed his tobacco a total loss, but somehow every 4th row was picked,,, hmmmm
when a guy that used to be a farmer, and was raised by one it the claims adjuster,, don't try to pull one past himComment

Read the article..This was predictable with the planned evening out of the tariff's....I don't think you would want to go back to the way it was with China in control of the prices of goods an the US losing companies to them, hmmmm..Also, Vernon may not want to put the re-election champagne on ice quite yet.

Where have you been in the last years. Small farms in the US can't make it any more because of the large corporate farms. Whether you like it or not, that's the way of the world. Small farming can't compete, Think of Walmart, Best Buy. Mac Donalds. etc, It's called today's world. Mom And Pop small operations/business' can't compete....Last edited by rayg; 01-30-2020, 11:55.Comment

American Public Health Association attributes the slight increase to two factors:1) decrease in cancer mortality due to continued decrease in tobacco consumption and 2) increased use of Naloxone to combat opioid overdosing. The CDC also mentions an uptick in mortalities of middle age white males who are not college graduates. Not everything conveniently fits your economic memes Humphrey.Comment

Well usually not every thing does. I see drugs and alcohol plays a roll and takes a toll,....Well I think I may have gained a couple of years as I recently cut back on my weekly volume of wine a bit. Now using smaller glasses. Lol.....Last edited by rayg; 01-31-2020, 03:49.Comment
