Truly grim news about the irreplaceable Rush ...

And he is irreplaceable. I've listened to all the fill-in
hosts who have replaced him when he was away from
his golden microphone, but none were even close to
filling his shoes. Mark Stein was the best of the bunch,
but he rambles on with pointless anecdotes and he
stutters and repeats himself which I find annoying.
So, hopefully Rush will beat the odds and keep going.

ZeroHedge - On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero

I'm sure the democrats will cheer the news, but I doubt any
will be gross enough to do it publicly.

I don't know of anyone who can replace him. Rush is like a force of nature. He was THE voice of American patriotism and conservatism But decades of smoking cigars has finally caught up with him.

Mark Steyn is the only one of the guest hosts that I'll listen to.

Was he a smoker or is this just one of those things? I could see him enjoying a good cigar.

Read this in another post. Have listened to him since the late 90's. Very effective. Very much regret his diagnosis. Possibly get a lung transplant? Praying for him. Sincerely. bruce.

Like William F. Buckley, Ronald Reagan, his legacy will be those he inspired.

                  About that. The thing is....

Buckley cleaned up Conservatism by chasing away the crazies (who are back, in case you haven't noticed) and putting it back on a sound intellectual footing,

Reagan had a sunny disposition. Sure, he could deliver a political zinger, but fundamentally a big hearted guy,

Limbaugh's contribution is to imbue Conservatism with an us-versus-them, take-no-prisoners tribal spirit that is neither big-hearted or intellectual.

Wasn't it your hero, Barack Hussein Obama, who called Republicans the "Enemy"?

                      Not my hero.

Added: Obama did this once and expressed regret a day later. Typical Obama naivete thinking it would make any difference.

Maybe Hillary Clinton is more your style of hero, calling nearly half of the voters in 2016 a "basket of deplorables".

Who was it who referred to "people who are bitter, cling to guns and religion" ?

It was a shocking statement at the time. We've come a long way since then, eh?

Not exactly magic with a phrase, is she?
