I was JOD on a Reserve cruise and explained to the OPS officer that the twin targets he wanted to bisect was a tug towing a barge. That's all I said. After a 15minute monologue, during which the captain of the tug called us every name in book plus a few new ones, the XO announced himself, took the conn and avoided the collision. The next morning I was invited to the Principal's office for a chat, with every officer of the vessel present. I was given the opportunity to explain my actions. In my FitRep, the Captain wrote "Lt. X proved himself a valuable member of the bridge team".

It is not the place of the Best Fed Ranger in the Army to second guess the CiC.

The OOD was the Supply Officer, working on his quals.

Agree..if you were a boss and found one of your employees was trying to destroy you. what would you do......How can you do your job when you can't trust your employees
