    Living forever

Kirk Douglas died a week ago a 103. Ronald Reagan "lived" for a long time as well. I had a friend die a year ago. His request to his wife was, "keep me alive as long as you can". That was measured in years. I heard he was a living mummy when he finally went(no one really knew where he was). The heart is a tough muscle. Do you lay there and have sweet dreams? Even sweet dreams might get old if your laying in a bed for ten years. It's a huge waste of money and nurses time. I'm not seventy yet, but I think it's time to get with it and get a will drawn up. No sillyness. And no desperate clinging to life. You know; You get old, you get sick, and you die. Try to have a little fun in there somewhere.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

No one gets out alive, and anyone who says they know what's next to a stone cold certainty is lying. Enjoy it while we can, be glad for the chance.

And, if I can't take it with me, I'm not going. The vultures will not appreciate the good work you've done. Here in the Valley of the Sun a lot of folks come to die. I've been to a few estate sales. If you want to attract people to your wknd sale put Estate Sale on the sign. I've seen a few weird collections. I hate it when I go to a sale and there is a life time of tools. I already have all those tools. Although I could use a planer.
Planer or jointer. I had this table saw kind of thing with razer sharp blades once, then decided I only used it once a year and sold it. Better to have it and not need it...

That is what I heard, you can't take it with you. In my spare time, I am trying to figure out if there is a way to send it ahead of my departure. Might be a solution there.
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Bob Hope also lived to well over 100. He was my favorite Hollywood star. His WW2 and Vietnam tours were outstanding!

I sent a letter to the IRS and told them I refuse to pay the Death Tax. They wrote back and told me in that case, I'm forbidden by law to die.

You can take it with you and many have. One guy got buried in his car,
and I'm sure people have been buried with their favorite rifle. It's just
a question of which rifle I wan't to take with me. Loaded of course as
who knows where you end up.

My daughters have instructions that I am to be buried with a .45 and a bowie knife -- I don't know where I'm going, but I want both hands full when I get there.

I always thought it would be neat to ride to the cemetery in a herse with a U Haul towed behind. But, the real problem is finding a funeral home with a hearse with a trailer hitch or tow bar.

Over the last 40 years I have conducted a lot of funerals. Most in one year was 18 not including non-members, etc. The ones that stand out are those folks who planned and lived for the future. When the day came, the funeral and all that attended to that day was celebrated by those who were present. They were the harvest. Their lives and all that followed were the dividends that paid into the future because of that man or woman who so wisely planned and lived for and invested themselves in their children, their family .. the future. It's not unlike farming. Any field will produce something. Wheat or corn or soybeans ... or weeds. The field does not care. It will grow whatever is planted. You plant for the future. You know ... sowing and reaping. Sincerely. bruce.

                          funny you mention that,

I attended a funeral not long ago, and the hearse did have a trailer hitch, one of those things you just notice I guess

                          I thought that was odd,,,
