    Chinese virus

As this virus plays out on the world stage, one wonders how it will affect commerce.

I wonder why we're still allowing planes from China to come here.

I wonder why we are still allowing container ships full of Chinese goods to come here. How long can the virus live on a wide screen TV?

It takes four weeks for goods to transit the Pacific. I read about this virus everyday. Its been reported that the virus can live outside of the host for 5 days, so goods shipped here should be ok. My company buys a lot of product from China. China shuts down for the Lunar New Year which is about the time the virus stories broke. From what a VP explained to us most factories in China employ workers by contract and those contracts end right before the New Year and those workers go home to be with family. They come back at the end of the New Years parties. So companies that bring in goods from China get their orders produced and shipped before the factories shut down. Our buys say we should be ok until May but then all bets are off.

I also wonder ago why we still have planes coming in. It was just reported we have people in quarantine at Lackland AFB and one person in self quarantine at home in San Antonio. I want to know how they got there.

I think there were three or four different bases where people are quarantined. That cruise ship makes me wonder. How do you keep that many people in place? If a couple of hundred people on the ship are sick you'd think there other couple thousand would want off. Self quarantine I guess is voluntary but we had a guy here a few years ago who was Russian. He was a young fellow and had a nasty strain of TB. He wouldn't stay home and he finally was arrested and jailed. He got sent back to Russia as I recall.
But way more people in the U.S. have died this winter from the plain old flu. Even in China if 800 people die in a country of 800 million that's what, .00001%? It ain't the 1918 flu.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

It's all part of Trump's trade deal with China.
