The b.s. was based on his mother being under a certain age when she married a furr'ner and failing to jump through all the proper hoops while little Barack was supposedly born outside the U.S. The Canal Zone was U.S. territory when McCain was born, and both of Cruz's parents were U.S. citizens when he was born.
The worst part about Obama's alleged ineligibility was the law which supposedly invalidated him was repealed/scrapped when he was a kid, so anyone affected by it got unaffected. Assuming he was born in Kenya it was mooted when the law went into the trashcan.

Winston Churchill was not a U.S. citizen because a child born to an American woman, outside the U.S. who was married to a non-citizen did not have birthright citizenship at that time. It wasn't until much later that was changed.

The ineligibility wasn't due to where he (or any other politician) was born. It's due to Article VI, Clause 3:

Clause 3: The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

A man, or woman, who cannot take that oath in sincerity, but who intends to violate the Constitution, cannot serve.

barrettcreek has a few facts wrong. McCain was born on an overseas post that could be treated as US soil. Not so Cruz, who was born on Canadian terra firma, to a Cuban father no less, yet found himself on a GOP presidential ballot. Obama was born in Hawaii, per the records, but even so, mom was as American as anyone here.
