What is the Bernie surge?

Various articles have indicated Bernie's 'wave' may be more of a splash in that a) he gets the most of a diminished field and b) is a portion of his cadre (term deliberate) people who wish to see the Dems destroyed as a protest of the systematic corruption of the Clinton domination of a party riddled with sepsis?

It's far too early to say there is a "surge" for anybody. I think what we are seeing is the True Believers are bulldozing their way to the front in caucuses, but no indication that ordinary voters are following their lead.
