Here's one for you. I had dupuytrens contraction. Never heard of it? Northern Europeans get it. Your(in my case) ring finger on both hands tends to bend palm wards. It got to where I couldn't type with out a whole bunch of ooooo's and wwwww's jumping into the sentence. You get a shot of some nasty acid into your palm and the callous crystalizes(my term) and shatters in a day. End of problem,but not painless. It's caused by smoking and drinking. Yup. I don't smoke.

What is interesting about this selectivity is whereas all the above diseases are caused by genetics, the SARS MERS susceptibility may be a case of a pathogen which is prone to infect particular genetics.
