Trump didn't tell the Governors they were "on their own", and I heard what he said, but that they would be better off trying to get what they needed "on their own without waiting for the federal government to get it for them". Big difference. And he's right. They are the Governors, it's their job to take care of their own state, and they probably can get it faster by cutting out the red tape and extra government.

Wouldn't the 10th Amendment cover this?

Reminds me of Hurricane Katrina. The Mayor of New Orleans was waiting for "the cavalry" when in fact, HE is the cavalry. The Federal Government only SUPPORTS him. The City of New Orleans had a disaster plan that was no plan at all -- and no way to receive and use the aid provided.

How many respirators do you think they'll get out of Europe or Asia (or even Canada/Mexico) in the short run? None.

So now it's state against state, with the ones not yet hit making sure they don't lose any that they might need.

As Trump himself once said, either you have a country or you don't.

Man, Togor must be a reporter. Only they can take what is said and change it to mean what they want. When Trump was talking about the "country", that was about securing the border, nitwit. Now he's talking about everybody doing what is needed, and what they are supposed to do with their office, and not wait for someone else to do it. And I would be willing to bet that if the Governors got together, they would do what is right for everybody, even if that meant sharing. Try to stay on topic for a change.

If he couldn't twist every post into something against Trump, he'd explode. I'll bet there isn't a day that goes by that his mother doesn't say to herself, "I wish I hadn't dropped him on his head."

A renewed sense of national identify (MAGA) is strictly about the border?

Then how come all the tariffs?

To point out the obvious, this thing is larger than any one state.

My point stands. Trump, to his belated credit, now seems to understand the magnitude of the problem, and in some ways has detached himself from the base. Good for him. But the early missteps are real and not easily undone.

He's done exactly what needed to be done, got the government out of the way so things can get done. And you are too arrogant and blind to be able to see that. Stay on topic or stay out. You are, like I said, a reporter. Repeat all the negative and don't ever give anyone credit for doing right, unless of course, they do it YOUR way, which always seems to be wrong. And then you'd have to find someone or something to blame for that. Give it up, we see the light, you don't.

We are currently on a trajectory about 2-3 weeks behind Italy. Their cases and deaths increase but the the slope of their log scale is starting to decrease, which means instead of say a 33% daily increase they're at 25%. It takes a long time to get to zero.
