Drinking Gin and Tonics will keep you safe ...

British Army invented Gin and Tonic to ward off Malaria,
but only for the Officers. (To hell with the other ranks).
Quinine (Jesuits Bark) keeps Malaria at bay, so if this
experiment with this unpronounceable named drug works
then there'll likely be a run on tonic water. If you stock
up now you might be able to trade some for toilet paper.

Is there any real Quinine in currently manufactured U.S. tonic water? I think I remember reading a number of years ago that it was no longer used, in the U.S. at least, and had been replaced by artificial flavoring. I don't recall if the reason for the change was because of cost or FDA regulations.

I don't know about the utility of gin and tonic as a preventive for COVID 19, but if you have enough scotch you really won't care

I once lived on the Texas gulf coast for about 10 years. While there, I regularly drank Gin & Tonic, and since I did not contract malaria I like attribute that to my drinking of Gin & Tonic.

I can't speak about Gin & Tonic preventing the China Corona Virus. However, if I drank beer I would drink Lone Star or Dos XX Amber, I avoided drinking Corona beer.

It wasn't the Gin it was the limes. Limey.

Limes kept sailors from getting scurvy. Gin and Lime, totally different drink.

In Viet Nam, we used Chloroquine-primaquine as a prophylaxis against falciparum malaria ("blackwater fever.") I was in Kepler Compound, in-processing, and there was a warrant officer out-processing. He was sick and refused to see the medics, because they would pull him off his flight and hospitalize him. I finally went out and got a medic, but when we got back to the compound, we were just in time to see him die.

Thereafter, I took my Chloroquine-primaquine faithfully, and had no problems. So I'm not surprised that quinine can have an effect on the Corona virus.

Gin and tonic never had quinine in it. Quinine was added to the pitcher to mask the taste of quinine. Same reason we still put Kool Aid in city faucet water, to kill the taste.

Dated a woman lived at the north end of Maricopa County. Worst tasting water ever. Brought big containers with me when I visited.
