Chinese Woman Brags About Buying Up Supply of N95 Masks at every store

CORONAVIRUS‘ Nothing Left For the Americans’: Chinese Woman Brags About Buying Up Supply of N95 Masks

The video was captioned, “So much fun shopping. Bought them all. Left nothing for the Americans.”

“It feels so awesome to buy all the masks!” she states.

The clip shows her filling a pick up truck with boxes full of the masks. After going from store to store...

Not sure she broke any law'''' or just smart business sense

Well the blogger is playing up the race/country angle to be sure. I still now isn't the time for that.

A couple of old boys drove around Dollar Stores in TN doing the same thing with hand sanitizer.

It's a consequence of web based reselling, like Amazon Marketplace, eBay, etc.

Of course if the Chinese lady really does take such a dim view of Americans, then she is free to leave.

BS.. Race card..is that all you can see. Did you not notice she is planning on sending them to China. Ok, I guess there was racism involved, but only on her part! The old boys you mentioned were small potatoes compared to her.

I know folks around my area are blaming China for this virus, and rightly so I think. There is one store that will not do business with any oriental. Now that's racist!

Ray the "blame China" angle is really being played up on the right. It goes back to the Know-Nothing idea that foreigners are to blame for our troubles.

True this thing started in China.

True their government fumbled their early response.

True our government fumbled its early response.

            Same for the Europeans.

Brazil is still in some weird denial state, deliberately fumbling its response.

Some US Republican governors were among the last to get on board with policies to limit spread, including FL.

Also true that scientists around the world are sharing data like crazy, including Chinese scientists who did much of the early work.

Who is more likely to contribute to a positive outcome? Scientists who cooperate or bloggers (and politicians) who cast blame?

In sports, the finger-pointers usually ride the bench.

And of course the blamers conspicuously avoid assigning blame in certain directions. Some people...never their fault.

My view.... criticism ought to start at home, because it's easier to change yourself than others. We can't change the Chinese but we can sure get better at handling these kinds of viruses when they show up on our shores.

Boy you really took off on that Blame China race card angle...My post had nothing to do with blaming China! It only called attention to hoarding, and of a woman who was doing so, who happened to be Chinese, and who was planning on sending the stuff to China...The other hoarders you mentioned, I assume were not going to do so..Nothing to do with race as I assume they were white..

Ray I pointed out that the blogger who wrote the post was playing up the angle. And he was. I did not say you were.

But my point remains that it is a cascade of misjudgements that got us here. As chinese biology is no different than our own when it comes to this disease, we are best off in my opinion on getting along with them as best as we can, in the same boat.

Now after this is over, let's figure out what we can do better for the next time. And one thing we should do, in my opinion, is accept the likelihood that the closed nature of Chinese society means that such viruses are likely to come at us with a running start. It sucks, but there it is. We might also choose to have a heart-to-heart with our own capitalists and shareholders about whether or not we want them outsourcing vital production to Asia in pursuit of a slightly higher return on capital. It wasn't the working people who decided to relocate their own jobs to Asia, or Mexico. (Now that said I also believe that working people have to be prepared to adapt as necessary to stay competitive. Most but not all accept that idea.)

I agree with Togor. There have always been people who take advantage of things. Just as this virus has spread because the world is now more globally connected the same fact is helping the medical community find treatments that work quicker then years ago. We must work together.

So in the spirit of cooperation I hope the administration doesn't clamp down too hard on 3M and masks, in an overreaction. If you were to ask American doctors whether they want Canadian or German doctors to also have equipment, they would say "yes, of course, we're in this together." I look at guys like Peter Navarro and see the administrative equivalent of a 'cytokene storm' waiting to happen, which means an under-reaction followed by an extreme overcorrection. 3M is a multi-national and should not be required under the DPA to leave everyone else in a lurch. If the administration insists on that, there will be retaliation out of Europe in the form of critical valves needed to make ventilators (the Germans are pretty much the country of choice when it comes to small electromechanical actuators). And if not the Germans, the Chinese. The point is, US manufacturers could get shut down in a heartbeat.

                        Update on the masks.

3M appears to be taking the long view, if Navarro cannot. So some good news there.
